in school reform efforts On Wednesday, March 17, the Council of Chief State School Officers, the New America Foundation and Pre-K Now are co-sponsoring a national webinar, “Redefining ESEA: The critical role of early education and pre-k to 3rd alignment in school reform efforts.” The discussion will include an overview of the status of ESEA reauthorization and an analysis of the latest proposals and ideas emerging from the White House and Congress. In particular, we will examine how these proposals support or hinder efforts to expand or improve state pre-k programs and to increase alignment between pre-k and the early grades. Participants will have an opportunity to provide feedback on a number of policy options for promoting a stronger role for early education in ESEA put forth by national groups, including the three hosting organizations. Advocates and policy leaders in K-12 and early education at both the state and federal levels, especially those interested in the potential for ESEA to increase alignment from pre-k through 3rd grade, are encouraged to participate.
